I'm a girl from Colorado.

Obviously, in no way am I a supporter of slavery and or racism in the south. I don’t come from the south and I don’t even live in the south. I’ve come to find that southern people of all races and religions are very proud of their heritage and some of them still use the confederate flag as a symbol of that heritage. Not a symbol to condone racism. Are there still some racist people in the south? Yeah, there are. Is that wrong? Yeah, it is.
But, me being hungover taking a picture of a flag my friend literally dug out of a lake and hung up in a doorway of an abandoned house in Tennessee does not make me a supporter of the ideas the south had in the 1860’s.
Today’s generation that hung up that flag as a decoration for a house party that was specifically themed southern, have no ties to the people who displayed the flag and fought in the Civil War.
If you’re a tourist and you take photos of the camps at Auschwitz does that automatically make you a nazi? I don’t think so.
So, just a heads up because I know how heated sensitive topics can get on this website and I don’t feel like wasting my time if I get personally attacked.
Thanks to everyone who has enjoyed the photo though!
